Harvest Report 2025

Harvest 2025
A cold wet winter last year and cool, mild weather conditions in the Cape over spring and summer resulted in this year’s wine grape harvest delivering excellent quality fruit, with the young wines in our cellar brimming with health, taste and varietal expression.
Harvesting Sauvignon Blanc, Diemersdal’s major variety – began on 27 January, slightly later than usual due to the extended ripening-period, and continued to 25 February. Bunches were in rude health with even berries encased by firm, dense skins. Inside the pips showed the brittle crunch of perfect ripeness and expansive fruit flavours were held together by a bright, fresh acidity. It is a brilliant Sauvignon Blanc year, this opinion validated by the young wines already on the market and those undergoing further maturation in the cellar.
The impressions of a superb vintage extended to Diemerdal’s primary red varieties namely Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot where firm acidities resulted in wines of freshness and longevity. An all-round fine vintage for Diemersdal and Cape wines in general.
